About Kopu
Kopu is inspired by the celestial body that rises in the east — a guiding light for navigating the creative landscape of Te Tauihu.
Weaving creativity across Te Tauihu
Kopu is a creative ecosystem platform that connects artists, suppliers, iwi, and community across the Nelson/Tasman region. Built in partnership with iwi and guided by tikanga Māori, our platform makes it easy to discover creative talent, coordinate projects, and bring culturally grounded visions to life.
We believe the creative sector thrives when people can find each other, collaborate meaningfully, and deliver work that reflects the stories, values, and aspirations of our communities. Kopu provides the infrastructure for this — a shared space where artists can be seen, opportunities can reach the right people, and projects move from kōrero to whakatū.
Creative Directory
A searchable database of artists, suppliers, venues, and consultants in Te Tauihu — with profiles, portfolios, and availability calendars.
Opportunity Matching
Calls for artists and RFPs are published directly on the platform. Eligible creatives are notified automatically and can submit expressions of interest.
Project Tracking
Follow creative activations through five phases — from initial kōrero through to whakatū (installation and launch) — with transparent milestone tracking.
Iwi Partnership
The eight iwi of Te Tauihu are embedded throughout. Projects are guided by cultural advisors and the Ringa Tohu panel ensures quality and tikanga compliance.
A region where creativity is valued, visible, and woven into every aspect of public life — where artists and communities collaborate to tell our stories, celebrate our culture, and shape the places we share.
